Interactions between lymphoma cells and their microenvironments underlie the biology of these tumors and have substantial impact on CAR-T outcomes in patients. Here we review current understandings of these interactions in relation to CAR-T efficacy, emerging techniques to study them at high resolution, and how results can inform the design of next-generation CAR products with potential to benefit  increased numbers of patients.
