The purpose of Oral Session 301 is to present new discoveries in platelet function and new platelet targets for the treatment of platelet related disorders. The theme includes new platelet functions including their sequestration of circulating tumour DNA and a protective role in lung cancer metastasis. The theme also includes new platelet protein function (actinin) and platelet transcripts. It also includes 2 potential therapeutic targets for immune thrombocytopenia (targeting autoreactive B cells and mitophagy).
