The purpose of this Oral Session 301_2 is to present new mechanisms/targets of platelet hyperreactivity in cardiovascular and immune thrombosis. The theme of this session includes novel insights into the role of lung platelets in immunothrombosis, a novel platelet protein, Sec61b, involved in calcium flux in diabetes, and the role of anti-PF4, ELISA negative, platelet activating antibodies in thrombosis with monoclonal gammopathy. Two new antithrombotic platelet targets are presented (kinase Ask1 and cytoskeletal protein ARP2), as well as a novel class of antithrombotics (galloylated polyphenols).
