This year’s lunch will highlight a case study demonstrating how ASH members and hematology advocates can be involved at the state and local levels to impact change aimed at improving health outcomes. Presenters will share their story about how successful advocacy in California resulted in building and sustaining the California Sickle Cell Data Collection (SCDC) program, which includes grant funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Sickle Cell Disease Data Collection Program, and how they have used data from this program to build a network of comprehensive sickle cell disease care centers throughout the state to improve health care access.
