Grassroots Network Lunch

PhD Trainee
Program: Special-Interest Sessions
Saturday, December 5, 2015: 11:15 AM-12:15 PM
Orlando Ballroom N (Hyatt Regency Orlando)

Thanks to ASH’s advocacy efforts and the ASH Grassroots Network, issues important to the future of hematology have been brought to the attention of the U.S. Congress and federal agencies. The ASH Grassroots Network Lunch provides a forum for interested members to learn how they can participate in ASH’s advocacy efforts, communicate with Congress and the White House, become effective advocates for hematology, and discuss the Society’s legislative and regulatory priorities. Discussion will focus on ASH’s response to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) budget crisis and the impact funding cuts have had on hematology research, as well as how the results of next year's congressional elections may impact hematology. An overview of the Society’s 2015 advocacy accomplishments and a preview of the Society’s 2016 advocacy agenda will also be provided. U.S. members may sign up at this event to join the ASH Grassroots Network.

Please note that this session will focus on ASH’s advocacy efforts related to NIH funding and research; those interested in the Society’s practice-related advocacy efforts are encouraged to attend the ASH Practice Partnership Lunch on Sunday, December 6.
