The 2015 Hematology Course Directors' Workshop will continue its focus on the new learning environments at medical schools. The Liaison Committee on Medical Education's (LCME) "Functions and Structure of a Medical School" went into effect July 1, 2015, changing the existing set of standards for medical schools. Workshop speakers will provide an overview of the LCME transition and review strategies for moving away from traditional lectures such as team-based learning and the "flipped classroom." This session will also include a case-study discussion of one medical school's curriculum reform and how it relates to the new LCME standards.
